Not always. We can scribe under it with a flush-cut saw. For a really clean finish in a high-end refurb, lifting and refitting skirting is worth the extra hour.
Depends on the subfloor and the floor going down. We use a 3mm acoustic foam for laminate, fibre underlay for engineered timber, and the matched SPC underlay for SPC.
A 14mm engineered floor laid properly will see 25 to 30 years of normal family wear. LVT and laminate, 10 to 15. Provided it is not flooded, which is usually a fitting question, not a product question.
